The feed is an inbox, not a report. Every mention is either something you are going to answer or something you are going to wave through, and the whole screen is built around making that a one-second decision.
Three places a mention can be
- Inbox is everything you have not dealt with.
- Replied is what you have answered, kept so you can find the thread again.
- Dismissed is what you waved through. It is a bucket, not a bin: dismissed mentions stay there and can be read whenever you want.
They are the three links at the top of the sidebar. Nothing moves between them on its own.
Narrowing it down
Add filter cuts the feed by platform, label, sentiment, or when something was found. Combine as many as you like: negative complaints on Reddit from this week is three filters and about four seconds.
When you have a set you will want again, press Save view and it appears in the sidebar under Saved Views, one click away. This works exactly like the saved views on your linkbuilding feed, and for the same reason: the useful question is rarely “everything”.
The two most useful views to build on day one are “anything negative” and “questions, any platform”. The first is what you want to know about; the second is where the easy wins are.
Replying
Open a mention and the reply panel is right there. Write your own, or press Generate with AI and Serpfeed drafts one that answers what the post actually says, in your voice. If you have already started writing, the same button becomes Improve with AI and works on your draft rather than replacing it.
Then Copy, open the original post, and paste. Serpfeed does not post for you, on any platform. Every one of these places has its own rules about automated posting, and more to the point, a reply from your account should be a thing you decided to send.
Mark as Replied moves it out of your inbox. It is a bookkeeping act, not a check on whether you really posted, so use it for anything you have handled.
The rest of the row menu
- Copy Link for pasting the original somewhere else.
- Exclude this author when one account keeps producing noise. Their posts stop appearing in your feed, and the confirmation has an Undo on it.
- Exclude Subreddit, on Reddit mentions, when a whole community is the wrong room for you.
- Report as Spam for something that should never have matched at all. It dismisses the mention and excludes its author in one press, which is the pair you would otherwise do by hand.
The first three are the fast versions of settings you can also manage in one place. See Getting less noise.
Working in bulk
Tick several rows and a bar appears at the top of the table with Mark Replied, Export and Dismiss. The header checkbox takes the page you are looking at; the bar offers to take everything your filters currently match, which is usually what you want after filtering to a label you never act on.
Export CSV takes the mentions with their labels, sentiment, author and links, which is the fastest way to hand a month of feedback to somebody without a Serpfeed login. Exporting is on paid plans. See Exporting your data.
Nothing in the feed yet
On a keyword you have just added, wait a few minutes: the first look happens straight away but the results arrive when they arrive. After a day with still nothing, the usual answer is that the keyword is a name nobody has used publicly this week, which is genuinely common for a young brand and is not a fault.
The thing to check is that you have not narrowed yourself out of everything: an excluded word that appears in most posts about you, or every platform switched off but one. Both are in Settings.
