What happens when a payment fails

Past due explained: what pauses, what stays safe, and the one-minute fix in the billing portal.

A payment can fail for ordinary reasons: an expired card, a new card number, a bank flagging the charge. When that happens your paid account is paused until billing is sorted, but nothing is deleted and your data stays safe. Here is exactly what to expect and how to fix it.

What happens

When a payment fails, your account is paused and you'll see a “Payment required” screen the next time you open the app. While it's paused, actions are on hold: discovery, enrichment, outreach and email drafting, bot link placement, adding competitors, and monitoring refreshes all wait until your payment is up to date. Your projects, opportunities, and the links you've already won stay exactly where they are, and nothing is lost.

The one-minute fix

  1. On the “Payment required” screen, choose Update payment method.
  2. Update your card in the secure billing portal.
  3. The pending charge retries automatically. If you've already paid, use “I've paid, refresh” to unlock right away.

Once the payment goes through, your plan unlocks, your monthly credits are restored, and you can pick up right where you left off. If a card retry succeeds on its own, your account unlocks automatically.

Nothing is lost

A paused account is a payment state, not a deletion. Your data is safe throughout, and catching up on billing brings everything back with no lasting effect.
