Sign-in methods & password

How you sign in to Serpfeed (email one-time codes), and how to add, change or remove a password.

Serpfeed keeps sign-in simple: by default there is no password to remember. You enter your email, we send you a six-digit code, and you are in. Prefer to skip the code entirely? Continue with Google. And if you would rather use a password, you can add one later.

Continue with Google

On the login page, choose Continue with Google and pick your Google account. There is no separate sign-up step: if it is your first time, we create your account and take you straight into setup. You can use the same Google button every time you come back.

Signing in with a code

Enter your email on the login page. We send a six-digit code to your inbox; type it in and you are signed in. The same flow works whether or not you already have an account, so there is no separate sign-up step to worry about.

Adding a password

If you would rather sign in with a password, you can set one from Settings, Account, Security. Once you have a password, the login page will ask for it, and you can still fall back to a one-time code whenever you want.

Changing a password you already have works the same way, with one extra step: we ask for your current password first. That way, someone who gets hold of your computer while you are signed in cannot quietly swap your password and lock you out.

Changing your password signs you out everywhere

When you set or change a password, every device signed in to your account is signed out, including the one you are using. That is deliberate: if you are changing your password because you think someone else has access, this is what removes them. Sign back in with your new password and you are done.

We also email you whenever your password changes, so if it was not you, you find out straight away.

Removing your password

Prefer codes only? You can remove your password from Settings, Account, Security. We ask for your current password and confirm before removing it. Afterwards the login page stops asking for a password and you sign in with an emailed code, exactly as before you added one.

Forgot your password?

Use the Forgot password link on the login page. We email you a link, you choose a new password, and you sign in with it. You will not be asked for your old one, since opening the email is how you prove the account is yours.

The same link works if you have never set a password and want one. And because email codes always work, you are never locked out either way.

Keep your email current

Since sign-in and password resets both run through your email, make sure the address on your account is one you can always reach.
